Thank God it's Friday! It's another day to celebrate Islam. Don't forget to do the necessary so as to maximize your chances of getting rewarded today,remember,every good deed counts especially when you shall be receiving the rewards in 10 folds.
Take a spiritual birth,trim down your nails,shave your pubic and armpit hairs,recite suratul Khaf (chapter 18 of the holy Quran), ensure you are among the first to reach the central mosque for prayers and finally,make sure you don't utter a word during the Imam's khutba.
Stick to all these for 100% reward,if u can't stick to all,stick to as many as you can. Stay blessed!
Back,to our discuss.On my last post,I promised to differentiate between a Muslim and a terrorist. Let's begin from understanding the definition of a Muslim and a terrorist.
According to an available dictionary, a Muslim is a follower and believer of the Islamic faith while a terrorist is "A person, group, or organization that uses violent action, or the threat of violent action, to further political goals; frequently in an attempt to coerce either a more powerful opponent, (such as a citizen or group targeting a government), or conversely, a weaker opponent, (such as a government, or even an internal citizen or group, being targeted by a larger government)."
From these definitions,every Dick and Harry can see the big difference between a Muslim and a terrorist. Please note that in the definition of a terrorist,no religion was attached or associated with it. By implication,it means that ANYBODY CAN BE A TERRORIST NOT ONLY MUSLIMS.
On whether Islam profess violence or not,I shall refer you to a couple of Quranic verses...
" Why was there not a single township (among those We warned), which believed,- so its faith should have profited it,- except the people of Jonah? When they believed, We removed from them the penalty of ignominy in the life of the present, and permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while."
" If it had been thy Lord's will, they would all have believed,- all who are on earth! wilt thou then compel mankind, against their will, to believe!" - Q:10:98-99
"And the servants of (Allah) Most Gracious are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say, "Peace!";" Q:25:36
"Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors." Q:3:110.
And lastly...
"Those who spend (freely), whether in prosperity, or in adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for Allah loves those who do good;-" Q:3:134
These verses describes the characters of a practising Muslim. So,to associate terrorism with Islam is most unfair and highly hypocritical indeed!
If you are presented with war verses from the Quran like the ones I quoted in my last blog post,please, don't hesitate to demand explanation for the following biblical verses if the accuser is a Christian:
Kill everyone who has religious views that are different than your own. Deuteronomy 17:7
Kill anyone who refuses to listen to a priest. Deuteronomy17:12-13
Kill any false prophets Deuteronomy
18:20 .
Any city that doesn’t
receive the followers of Jesus will be destroyed in a manner even more savage than that of Sodom and Gomorrah.
Mark6:11 .
Matthew10:34-36 - "Do not think that I came to bring
peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace,
but a sword. 35"For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother,and a daughter-in-lawagainst her mother-in-law;36and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household."
Luke 12:51,52 -"Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you no, but rather division; 52for from now on five members in one
household will be divided, three against two, and two against
three..." .
Luke 22:36- "And He
said to them, "But now, let him who has a purse take it along likewise also a bag, and let him who has no sword sell his robe and buy one.
Afterwards, ask if Christianity can be called a violent or a pro-terror religion as a result, when he answers no,then ask why he tags Islam as a terror religion simply because he finds similar verses in the Quran?
If he goes to cite Al-Qaeda,the Taliban and ISILS as Islamic terror groups that claim to establish Shari'a laws on the land and have been known to have carried out terrorist acts in the process,or perhaps, he asks why all the terror groups known are Islamic in nature?
That would be our next topic insha Allah,"Who are the terrorists?"
But before then,inform them that we have terror groups that are Christian and Jewish based. Examples include the KKK,the Seleka militia in Central Africa Republic among many others are pro-christian terror groups.
Let them know that the fact that we hear only about Islamic terrorists alone is only a plot to paint Islam in evil colours...Nigerian media happens to be doing the same with boko haram,but, insha Allah, they have failed at it.
