The Greatest Jihad of all !

In my last issue on this blog, I expressed my stance as a proud Jihadist. Today, we shall be discussing the greatest of all Jihad activities...Jihad-nafs. I have once related a hadith in which the prophet was reported to have stressed the importance of jihad-nafs.
Jihad-nafs simply refers to self control or discipline. The Quran says:
"Do you order righteousness of the people
and forget yourselves while you recite the
Scripture? Then will you not reason?"- Quran 2:44.
This verse to a great extent tells the importance of looking out for our own soul first! A similar verse in the Quran says:
" O you who have believed, protect yourselves
and your families from a Fire whose fuel is
people and stones, over which are
[appointed] angels, harsh and severe; they
do not disobey Allah in what He commands
them but do what they are commanded" - Quran 66:6

As a Jihadist, according to these verses, your first point of call is your family! This,unfortunately, is the greatest undoing of our clerics. You hear them on radio, T.V. and in print media... some even go as far as making both video and audio CD's for sale preaching and treating burning issues in Islam, but their home front is nothing to write home about.

A friend once showed me the pictures of a nude young girl he got from facebook. To my amazement, he told me that those pictures were of a girl from the family of one of the past great clerics! I was surprised but it wasn't a new thing to the guy who gave several other examples of the sons and daughters of great clerics who have gone astray. You cannot but wonder how the future of such children would be...most especially, the state of Islam in such households. If something is not done drastically about it, our great clerics might be made to face the consequences in the hereafter!This doesn't mean that  the verses are referring solely to the clerics alone.

As you, too, can see, the verses didn't exclude anybody, it's addressing ALL THAT BELIEVE AND SUBMIT TO GOD'S WILL IN ISLAM!

Now, let me ask you, how much of Islam do you know, are you seeking more knowledge or you are sitting on your oars? The Quran is our major book of law, do you know how to read it, if you do, how much of it have you memorized and how much of it do you understand and most importantly, ARE YOU LEAVING YOUR LIFE ACCORDING TO ITS TEACHINGS?

Please, know, today that the spread of Islam begins with you.The more you learn, the more you can practice, thereby increasing in faith and closeness to God Almighty. People shall notice your laudable characters and sought to be your friend...gradually, by God's Grace, you could be on the verge of reverting someone to Islam! This is our greatest weapon...we hear and obey, due to our obedience, we win the hearts of men for Islam...this about the greatest fit in Islam - reverting people to Islam...but it begins with you. Practice what you preach!

Remember, the ultimate goal and the Major reason you were created in the first place is to worship God. God, in one of the Hadith Qudsi was reported to have urged us thus:

"Know me before you start worshiping me, if you don't know me, how are you supposed to 

 worship me?" 

From this Hadith, it's glaring that seeking knowledge about Islam is a continuous responsibility of every Muslim. This is what I am challenging you to do today...arm yourself with adequate knowledge of Islam, practice what you learn, then, you teach others...STARTING OFF WITH YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS! This is the way of the Jihadist! This is the Greatest Jihad of All!
