Please thank God for me. I was tried by God Almighty last week and by His Grace, I passed! Alhamdulillah!!!
It was my boy that fell sick so I was pr-occupied with catering for him and getting the cash to settle the hospital bills. But, Alhamdulillah, we are back home and he is right here with me as I write this post! Shall we continue from where we stopped?
On the sixth of Ramadhan,we looked into the possibility of not getting your prayer answered and in the end,we were able to see that just as it is recorded in one of the Prophet's Ahadith, all prayers are answered but it might not just be in the direction where you hope to see it.
Today, Insha Allah, we shall discuss how you can get exactly what we want whenever you supplicate for help. From the previous post, we got 3 major ways by which your prayers are answered. What if you can get the other two ways filled up, then, you might just get your answers to all your supplications as you desire! What am I saying???
If by some means, you could get all the big negative trials that some of your supplications block pre-blocked and you have some reserved till the Judgement day, then, perhaps, you could get your heart desires when you ask for it! But how are you supposed to do that? You might ask, well, it's not that hard, it would only require a little more time than you currently spend on religious matters and effort.According to the Quran:
"Then do ye remember Me;I will remember you.Be grateful to Me,and reject not Faith" - Q:2:152
The verse says it all! God Almighty, in this verse says remember me so that I can remember you.So, by implication, if you do not remember God, then, expect no favors! But, how do you remember God???
This is more or less a technical term that requires a little explanation. To make it really simple,I would like to use an example from ourselves...as in...our nature as human beings.
Suppose you have two friends, Ahmad & 'Aqib. Now, both are in a far away land or country. Ahmad rarely calls, in fact, the only time you hear from him is when he needs you to do him a favor...you know...for your friendship's sake. On the other hand, 'Aqib calls virtually every other day...he is always interested in how well you are faring ...he would also like to know if he can help with anything.
One faithful morning, you received a call from both of them seeking for something of which you have just one to spare, who shall you give it to,is it Ahmad that calls only when he needs help or 'Aqib who calls regularly sometimes to know how he can help???Without thinking, of course, 'Aqib would be the one to get it!
Such is the case with God Almighty! While you live your life as you please and never find time to connect...you know...communicate with Him,so many others are at His beck and call. They don't wait till they need help before they supplicate...they, as a matter of fact made it their point of duty to call on Him day and night...they can hardly spend an hour without saying His Name or give gratitude for His countless Mercies! The Quran says of Jonah:
"Had it not been that he is among Our loyal worshipers, He would certainly have remained inside the Fish till the day of Resurrection." Q37:143-144
We all know of the story of Jonah who got swallowed for shirking his duty to God.Now,from the above interpretation of the meaning of the Quran,if he hadn't been among those that worship and glorify God, had he not repented and asked for forgiveness, he would have been digested by the fish!
So as you can see,you don't wait till you get into trouble before you remember God Almighty.
Say your daily compulsory prayers regularly AT THEIR APPOINTED TIMES. You should also engage in performing numerous nawafils, voluntary fasting, recitation of the Quran...at least a page or two, pick on any name of God and chant it as often as possible, chant a lot of assalatu too....the list is endless! The point is, pick a form of remembrance...any good deed is okay...even if it's as little as keeping a smiling face to all and sundry.Pick as many as you can integrate to your lifestyle and worship your Creator through it...ANY good deed, do it for His sake and it would be taken as a form of remembrance of Him.Now, that's a SPECIFIC way of remembering God. However, a general way to remember Him is to do to others how you want others to do to you!
The other part of the above verses is equally important...in fact, it's the most important. This is because it tells why you have to remember God always.
God has been good to you in so many ways,if you are doubting this, just consider the patients in the hospitals...especially those in the emergency rooms. It wasn't like you are better than them,it is by the Grace of God that you aren't the one aching in one of those beds in the hospital...consider the poor and the needy. There are so many out there that are battling with terminal diseases despite their store of wealth...some would gladly trade all their millions for a sound health! What I'm saying in essence is that we must show gratitude for God's favors over us! The best way to do this is to follow His orders and say it whenever we can that we are grateful for His Abundant Grace over us! He promised in another verse that He would always increase Favors over us whenever we show gratitude. Therefore, to receive more favors, make it a point of duty to always thank God before we ask for more!
I shall leave at this for now, insha Allah, we shall treat the procedures of asking for help from God tomorrow. Salaam!
