The Elections have been eventful, a lot of ups and downs were recorded. In some cases, lives were lost which is most unfortunate. As Muslims ,there are so many lessons to be taken from the elections. Here are a few of them:
Nothing is Permanent
Everything changes, nothing lasts forever except God Almighty. During this election period a couple of power brokers were outperformed. People who seemingly look untouchable were not only touched but dethroned!
The lesson here is that, humility is a must for all creatures, it's God Almighty that is the rightful owner of pride and expression of supremacy. He doesn't like sharing this attribute with anyone. Several verses of the Quran made that very clear. Even the Ahadith of the Prophet too agrees. There is this particular one which says that proud people won't enter Paradise!
Be Good, Be Nice Always!
Some of those that were kicked out of power lost due to their attitude to the welfare of people. They see and act as though they are some god of some sort. As a result, they bully people, talk carelessly to people coz they see themselves as invincible. Well, from their fall, we just learnt that truly, the only invincible being is God. You may seem invincible though, for as long as you remain a nice and good person to people. The moment, you drop these laudable characters, you fall out of favor and loose face in the midst of the people.
Be Honest, Be Truthful
Some are nice and good to people but lack honesty. When people have to pick between them and those that add these other characters of being honest and truthful, it natural that dishonest people would loose out. This played out especially during the Presidential Race. President Buhari was able to win simply because had has been truthful all his life so much so that everyone now know him as As-siddiq. His opponent lost because his level of truthfulness was not as high as that of President Buhari. It pays to be truthful. When you are truthful, people will trust you and put you in charge of their treasury as often as they can.
Prayers Can Truly Move Mountains!
In less than a week to the Presidential elections, a neighbor said that one of his friends called like 4 persons to bear witness to a promise of N50 000 to my neighbor should President Buhari wins. He, however ,called my neighbor as early as 6:00am that the deal is no more. I believe that he cancelled the deal after the postponement of the election exercise. He probably saw that his candidate's plan to rub has been foiled.
The question is, how can we describe the act postponement? If you ask me, it's the Hand of God pulling the strings! I saw it as a sign of answered prayers because so many prayed for a violent free election period. The delay by God must be a means of preventing a probable riot and chaos. In the end the election was generally peaceful with very, very few incidents of violence.
God is the True Godfather
God has clearly shown his superiority in deciding our fate. So many mighty fell and so many insignificants rose. God is truly the decider of who rules. Glory be to His Name. All godfather are weak and powerless. God Almighty is the true Godfather!
Subhanallah, walhamdulillah, walailaha Illa llahu, Wala haola Wala Kuwwata Illa billahil Aliyyul Azeem.
