Feminism and Islam

Feminism is a very trending word worldwide today. We have feminists all over fighting for gender equality at all levels of government worldwide. Initially it seem harmless and right thing to do. But, like every other bad movement, it has gradually taken very dangerous dimensions.
The origin of feminism can be traced to the Beijing conference held in China in the early 90's. Some of the significant resolutions of the conference was that women are unfairly treated by the men. They are relegated to the background and treated as second class human beings. They, therefore,  resolved that things must change, women must be included in high level decision making which was somewhat reserved only for their male counterparts. Women should be allowed to vote her choice and as a matter of fact rise to be voted for too! The Beijing conference wanted to see female head of states...the list is almost inexhaustible!
When you take a critical look at their list of demands, some are acceptable in Islam while others aren't. For instance, Islam allow women to marry whomever they choose to marry and seek for divorce when they're  no longer comfortable with the marriage contract. But Islam does not allow women to be disobedient to their husbands except on certain religious grounds. As far as feminists are concerned, you both have equal rights, hence, no one take orders from the order...the right to take decisions must be shared! This is why we need to be careful of what we ask for and what we support as Muslims. Let's be guided by Islamic Shari'ah at all times!

You might be wondering why I'm so critical of feminism, well, I saw a lot of it's negative side effects during the lockdown period and all the fights and campaigns against rape. These campaigns were largely sponsored and ran by feminists. You'll see this from the slogans they display, they have colored rape in a male dominant act. Whereas, there are cases of women raping men. They have been advocating for death penalty and life imprisonment for rapist because they see rape as a male thing!
When they are told that one of the significant ways of ending rape is for the women folks to watch what they wear, feminists responded that they are free to wear whatever they want and if you are not comfortable with it, look away from them! Now, as a fellow feminist, you may start thinking that it's true, men should look away, afterall, the Quran asked men to lower their gaze.

Yes, the men folk are to lower their gaze, but, the Quran warned, also, that women should watch what they wear, it commands that they should dress up covering all their body when stepping out! I have treated the topic in a previous post please check through the blog's recent archive for it if you haven't read it.

I've also watched on TV how a woman in hijab challenged God's decree which says that women should take half of what a man gets in inheritance. She even said that they'll take legal action on the matter. This is another evil effect of feminism.
There are so many instances that can be quoted and referenced that shows how anti-Islamic feminism is. While making our decisions, we must remember that Shari'ah is the SUPREME code of law in the lives of every Muslim. We are bound to dissociate ourselves from any move that kicks against the sacred laws. This is why you can't be a feminist as a Muslim or Muslimah. Insha Allah, we shall be looking a little deeper into the subject matter from the next blog post.
Salaam.
